Palm Beach Par 3 Clubhouse
This Digital Media Arts College assignments for the Environmental and Exhibition Design class were to design an interior layout for restaurant or retail environment. The restaurant and pro shop is a concept of what the new clubhouse at the Palm Beach Par 3 would be like (in my mind).
City Place Directory
City Place shopping center in downtown West Palm Beach, FL had nine directories in various locations around the property. They changed tenants regularly and the scheme changed every year. They are all backlit and three different sizes were produced.
Chock Full-O-Nuts/Tassimo Package
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Package Design class was to redesign an existing package layout design and labeling information. The original Tassimo package is an ingenious design and didn’t need any improvement. Tassimo does not offer Chock Full o’ Nuts coffee and this is the interpretation of what it should look like.
David Blumenberg Art Gallery
This Digital Media Arts College assignments for the Environmental and Exhibition Design class were to design an Art Gallery. The art gallery was designed to display the artwork of David Blumenberg. The building concept was from a small two-story gallery on the north side of Chicago.
Gas vs Electric Car Infographic
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Information Graphics class was to create a comparison info-graphic about any subject. The subject chosen was gas versus electric cars. Five issues were compared. The idea was to show combustion in a hard and dirty kind of way as compared to the eco-friendly and green way to show the electric power. All of the vehicles were traced and the other graphic elements were made freehand.
North Main BBQ Package Layouts
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Package Design class was a product redesign that emphasized the feeling of a Texas BBQ. It improves the armadillo art and uses images of food on a barbecue. The design also addresses the packaging where the initial order sends a plastic bottle, and the subsequent orders would receive an environmentally friendly package to refill the bottle.
Cuptracker POP Display
These Digital Media Arts College assignments for the Environmental and Exhibition Design class were to design a point of purchase display, an art gallery and an interior layout for restaurant or retail environment. The POP display was for four pack of golf balls to be displayed in a golf retail setting.
Engineered Air Infographic
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Information Graphics class was to create a "How to" info graphic. This project coincided with a freelance web site redesign job. The maintenance tips web page was all text below the header. An infusion of images and graphics was needed to break up the pattern of page after page of just text. Since the subject was home heating and cooling maintenance tips, a multi-level home was used as the backdrop. The house was split into eight sections for the major tips with the bottom used for closing remarks and contact information.
Coffee Cakes Cereal Box
This Triton College assignment was for the Advanced Production Design course was to design, print, cut and assemble a package. The assignment was that the design had to flow from one panel to the next. The required design elements were that no part of the package paper color was to be shown and that the box had to be functional when assembled. It was then printed full color, cut, folded and assembled for the final presentation.
Apple Shopping Bag
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Package Design class was to come up with the concept for a new creative shopping bag design. The Apple bag is a simple, drawstring bag with its logo on it. The redesign concept was to use Michelangelo’s Creation of Adam painting and transform it to having the Creator stretching to plug in Adam’s cell phone for recharging. As the strings were drawn together, the two would have the perception of joining in the middle, making the connection.
Favorite Heavy Metal Tunes
This Digital Media Arts College assignments for the Alternative Design class was to design a tryptych where the theme was evident from one panel to the other. My favorite three heavy metal songs were chosen with the smoke-mist-mushroom cloud as the recurrent theme.
The Dave Brubeck Quartet Poster
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Typography class was to create a typographic poster for any event of our choice. Requirements were that it be easily understandable and convey the excitement of contemporary design. With the suggestion of the instructor, the design was done in the style of Reid Miles. It is a concert poster promoting a live recording of The Dave Brubeck Quartet.
BULLITT Poster
This Digital Media Arts College assignment for the Alternative Design class was to re-create a poster of my choice. A movie poster from the movie Bullitt starring Steve McQueen was chosen. The challenge for this piece is to utilize the gradient mesh tool to depict as realistically as possible the man the movie is based on, the excitement of the famous chase scene and the setting where it takes place in an all vector format.
